Illinois Central GSC 53' & 60' Flatcars

This decal set is used to letter 53' and 60' GSC flatcar kits built by General Steel Castings in Granite City, IL and assembled by the Illinois Central Centralia, IL Shops.

The IC rostered the following series of plain GSC flats:
IC 60000-60099 Brown 53' GSC (IC Centralia 1957 -- Some later received bulkheads in 1958)
IC 61200-61234 Brown 53' GSC (IC Centralia 1958 -- Some later received bulkheads in 1967, but 61203, 61205-61207, 61209, 61211, 61212, 61219, 61222, 61223, 61225, 61228, 61232 and 61233 all remained as flatcars)
IC 62600-62609 Brown 60' GSC (IC Centralia 1957)
IC 62610-62624 Brown 60' GSC (IC Centralia 1959)
IC 62625-62674 Brown 60' GSC (IC Centralia 1962)
IC 62675-62699 Black 60' GSC (IC Centralia 1963)

Enough lettering is included for up to three cars (one 53' car and two 60' cars).

What is a good mix for IC Brown? Try:
75% Scalecoat Boxcar Red #2
25% Scalecoat Roof Brown
painted over a light gray primer. (Yes, the primer is important)
