Illinois Central Gulf Coil Car 1972+

The Illinois Central Gulf rostered several series of Evans Coil Cars. Two IC orders and one GM&O order were inherited in the ICG merger. 1975 and 1977 deliveries topped the roster off at 91 total cars:

ICG 299500-299524 (ex-IC 97275-97299, built 5-67) 100 Ton "Type III"
ICG 299525-299549 (ex-IC 941025-941049, built 5-71) 100 Ton "Type IV"
ICG 299550-299559 (ex-GM&O 75025-75034, built 2-68) 100 Ton "Type IV"
ICG 299560-299584 (built 8-75) 100 Ton "Type IV"
ICG 299585-299590 (built 3-77) 125 Ton

The entire car was painted black with orange hoods. These cars continue to serve the CN today.

A detailed lettering diagram is included. This set includes enough lettering for 1 car and is printed in black and white. You provide the ACI label; the decal set provides all other lettering. This set includes the as-delivered black ICG lettering for orange hoods. The lettering diagram illustrates both as-delivered stenciling as well as ICG repaints.

Both Walthers and Red Caboose make models appropriate for the ICG. The Walthers car can be used to model the the 1967 ('Type III') built cars, and the Red Caboose model can be used for the 1968, 1971 and 1975('Type IV') series. In N-Scale, Red Caboose has already released a Type IV car with angled hoods.

Additional modern era photos of hood-less ICG 299568 and ICG 299584 can be found on the George Elwood Fallen Flags Website .
