Illinois Central 40' / 50' Boxcar 1967+

The IC adopted the Orange Split Rail Scheme in 1967. Over the next 5 years, many of the 40' and 50' boxcar classes would receive the new paint while being shopped at the Centralia, IL and McComb, MS shops.

Examples of these IC cars lasted through the ICG era, up through the mid 1980s. This decal set includes all of the data you need to decal one 40' or 50' car. Branchline has excellent 40' and 50' kits available to provide starting points to model these cars.

This decal set has been completely reworked from the ground up in 2018 -- all new hand-drawn artwork, screen printing and accuracy are at the top of the list of changes. This scheme is too critical for anything less.

Additional photos of these series can be found in the IC/GM&O Color Guide by James Kinkaid. (Published by Morning Sun) on page 48.

You can also find photos on the George Elwood Fallen Flags Website, including examples like IC 405426 and IC 524476.
Also check out Boxcars & Freight Cars of North America by Ken Harstine. He has an image of IC 524614.

A detailed lettering diagram is included, with suggested lettering layouts for the 40' and 50' cars. This set is printed in black and white and yellow.
